What is worth doing when you are here.
Stowe House & Gardens
250 acres of National Trust landscape garden and a Georgian house, about a mile and a half up Stowe Avenue or a short drive round. Open daily through spring and summer, weekends only in winter — worth checking the current hours before you set off.
Silverstone Circuit
Home of the British Grand Prix, roughly 8 miles and a 15-minute drive from the house. Race weekends and test days bring heavy traffic on the surrounding roads, so let us know your dates if you're visiting for an event.
Bicester Village
Designer outlet shopping about 12 miles south, around a 20-minute drive. Gets busy from mid-morning, especially at weekends and around sales — an early start helps.
Buckingham Old Gaol
The town's museum, shop and tourist information centre, right on Market Hill and an easy walk from the house. Open 10am–4pm daily except Sundays.
The Great Ouse & Buckingham's parks
The river runs in a wide bend through the centre of town, bordered by Bourton Park and Chandos Park — both a short stroll away. Follow it further and it links up with the old Buckingham Canal path out towards the wider Ouse Valley.
Milton Keynes
Shopping centres, a multiplex cinema, theatre, and the mainline station for London Euston — about 14 miles and a 20-minute drive, or a direct bus from the town centre.
